Composites One Enterprise Platform

Live industrial product discovery for North America's leading composites distributor

Composites One enterprise catalogue experience

Overview

Composites One supplies essential composite materials and technical support across North America — tens of thousands of products spanning resins, reinforcements, adhesives, and specialty materials for aerospace, wind energy, marine, and manufacturing. The digital platform is the public discovery and content layer buyers use to find products, markets, and expertise.

Problem

Industrial buyers needed fast, trustworthy product discovery and technical content across a massive catalogue — without the site collapsing under complex CMS-driven pages or heavy list rendering.

Solution

Led Next.js frontend architecture with headless CMS composition, modular page systems, and performance-focused rendering so product and content teams could publish at scale while keeping SEO and interaction quality high.

Architecture

Next.js App Router with Contentful-driven page composition, typed component contracts, Redux where state complexity demanded it, and memoised list strategies for industrial catalogue views.

Responsibilities

  • Defined frontend architecture and CMS content contracts for product and marketing surfaces.
  • Built SEO-ready product discovery and technical content experiences for a live enterprise catalogue.
  • Mentored engineers on performance, accessibility, and maintainable React patterns.
  • Optimised large-dataset UI paths to cut expensive re-renders on heavy industrial views.

Challenges

  • Large industrial catalogues caused expensive re-renders.

Approach: Memoisation, state slicing, and virtualisation-friendly list patterns.

Result: Approximately 35% fewer redundant re-renders on heavy views.

Business Impact

  • Strengthened the live buyer journey for a national composites distributor.
  • Improved CMS publishing efficiency for product and technical content teams.
  • Raised confidence in catalogue performance under large industrial datasets.
